Somewhere on the North Fork this weekend, a family will pull up to a beach on its return to the North Fork.
Along the way, they’ll pass rows of budding vines, a line developing outside Magic Fountain, and the smoke and reverberating laughter from a backyard country barbecue. On the way back home, perhaps they’ll stop at a farm stand for a bundle of fresh asparagus and some strawberries.

The Rites of Spring Music Festival is back with a series of performances showcasing the beauty and history of the East End.
Now in its fourth year, Italian-born pianist Paolo Bartolani founded the Rites of Spring music festival as a way for people of all ages to enjoy classical contemporary music through immersive concerts at non-traditional venues.
Watercolorist Melissa Hyatt draws inspiration for her paintings and prints from the salty air and coastal charm of the North Fork. There is a softness to her calming seascapes that reflects both life on the water and the fluidity of the medium. Her Southold home and studio are close to the beach, where she often walks her golden retriever, April, collecting sea glass and other talismans of nature that inspire her pastel-colored artwork.
