The weather’s warming up and that hankering for a fish filled plate or a summery sip is returning. Our favorite places to grab a table outside or just rejoice in the season’s lighthearted vibe are opening their doors (or already have!), ready to greet returning and new customers alike. Modern Snack Bar, 628 Main Road, Aquebogue, 631-722-3655

Great home cooking is back on May 13 at the North Fork staple. The neon sign will be aglow and plates full of bay scallops, Long Island duck, roast pork loin, key lime garlic oysters and many other favorites. Open Wednesday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays 12 to 8 p.m.

The Restaurant at American Beech, 300 Main St., Greenport, 631-477-5939, @american_beech

This Greenport go-to spot opened Easter weekend with a new crudo-packed menu, still featuring return inducing plates like whipped ricotta app, blackened mahi and savory smash burger. The hours are Thursday and Sunday 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Anker, 47 Front St., Greenport, 631-477-1300, @ankergreenport

At Anker the surf (and a little bit of turf)-style menu will be back for the restaurants soft opening on April 30. Full-fledged open is set for May 1 so go get your hands on a Maine lobster roll or dig into fish & chips to celebrate. Stop by Sunday, Monday, Wednesday or Thursday from 12 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 12 to 10 p.m.

On April 30, the local favorite is opening doors. Hot and cold lobster rolls, oysters on the half shell and the coveted Crabby Mary doubling as a drink and appetizer will get you in the summertime mood. Open Wednesday through Sunday to start and daily in the summer from 12 to 8 p.m.

This iconic harborside spot will be open April 24-26 for lunch on the dock from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Get set for a seafood-heavy menu, great cocktails, live music and that waterside view. Both Charlie Boy and Common Country East, both concepts introduced last summer from Gansevoort Hospitality, will not be returning this summer. New concepts will be announced soon, according to Claudio’s partners.

Opening May 15, the waterfront spot named for a former owner who was also an oyster farmer will serve loads of seafood, wood fired Neapolitan pizza and a side of fun at the on-site bocce court. Also, sip from the long, variety-packed wine list while soaking up sun or gazing at the stars. Stop by Friday through Sunday from 12 to 8:30 p.m. and after June 3 Wednesdays as well plus Mondays from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

The fish-forward menu hits tables at the waterfront spot May 7. It’ll likely be open for lunch and dinner daily, with lots of local options, summer-inspired bevs and live music.

Enjoy dockside dining starting May 1. The menu featuring sea and land selections will be available Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 9 p.m. to start. Hours will expand after July 4.

Minnow is back May 1 with brunch, lunch, dinner, dessert and so much more including local wines, top tier cocktails and in-house and to-go coffee concoctions. Make a reservation online. Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, 12 to 9 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends.

Over at the Port of Egypt Marina, A Lure’s been bringing back the summer vibes since March 5. From 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 12 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 12 to 8 p.m. Sundays explore the seafood bar, taco and bao bar, salads, starter, house favorites like a macadamia-coconut crusted flounder, not in the mood for seafood selections and a slew of weekly specials.

Little Fish was serving up Easter Brunch during their season opening weekend, which kicked off April 3. With coastal cuisine, live music weekends and dinner service from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday through Monday night, the bright colored building and shoreside decor will get you in the mood for the season. Starting May 1, Arden Gardell takes his beauty beauty to five-days a week, Friday-Tuesday. Weekends see the kick off of both brunch and lunch from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Open Memorial Day Weekend, the food truck menu is serving a mix of raw bar, share plate, salad, skewer and grilled up specialties. Open Thursdays to Sundays from 12 to 9 p.m. it’s a wonderful option to sit outside with a drink, arrive by boat or enjoy during a stay on-site.

On May 14 grab a seat at Salt. The waterfront spot has a menu packed with apps, soups, salads, a raw bar, sushi, poke bowls, handhelds and Italian and ocean influenced large plates. The cocktail menu is not to be missed, loaded with unique treats. Lunch and dinner is served daily, noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Jimmy Lang’s green-side resto overlooking the Shelter Island Golf Course started back for another season Mother’s Day weekend. Right now, they’re operating Thursday and Friday, 3 to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. (with karaoke Saturday from 8:30 on, and Bingo on Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.). Thursday nights are trivia, too, from 6 to 7:30 — and happy hour is Thursday to Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. Check their website and social pages for more hours and days as the weather gets warmer and their wraparound porch fills up!

The Old Mill Inn, 5775 West Mill Road, Mattituck, 631-621-2251, @oldmillinn

Opening on Wednesday, May 6 this year, there will be new cocktails and specials at this hotspot on Mattituck Inlet. Worth a visit just to see the revamped version of the historic building; this is an grown-up only establishment (18+) for dinner; lunches will be family friendly and kids 10 and up are welcome. Open weekends only from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m.

Windamere at Strong’s Water Club, 2255 Wickham Ave., Mattituck, 631-315-5252, @windamerenofo

This waterfront bar and restaurant at Strong’s Water Club opens on May 9 this season, with classic appetizers, salads, fresh clams and oysters on the half shell, sandwiches and seafood-focused entrees, with a great happy hour to boot. Live music and the beautiful grounds make this a very pleasant stop. Stay tuned for more hours and days as the season progresses.

Hooray, the dumplings are back! Along with charming owners Claudia Lin and Vincent Bertault, who have been bringing their distinctly wonderful brand of Franco-Chinese food (plus don’t forget the gelato!) to happy Islanders since 2024. The official opening date was April 15, which will be Friday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. After June 1: Daily, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Back for another season, Jimmy Hayward’s BYOB, cool-as-cole-slaw fish spot (with some of the best fried chicken and ribs around, to boot) re-opened in the spring — and boy, are we glad to see him and his crew back in action.

While things are still a little bit up in the air for ye olde Chequit, the hotel is opening May 1 and taking reservations for that weekend and the rest of the 2026 season. Fingers crossed, manager Peter Garcia tells us the bar and patio-side restaurant will be back open that weekend as well (although, pencil that in — it could shift). The restaurant is going to have a summer-long pop-up scenario with a to-be-announced “celebrity chef,” says Garcia, and lots of exciting summer deliciousness. Stay tuned! Starting Mother’s Day Weekend, the Pridwin will be back for another seaside summer of terrace sips and noshes, lazy lawn barbecue and poolside grazing — and this year, NYC”s cocktail-fabulous Dante is back for a season-long spirited take-over of the bar. Get ready!

Get your hit of glammy, sexy summer fun at Sunset Beach, now on their 29th year in business, if you can believe it! Still, it never feels old at hotelier André Balazs’s alfresco-centric spot on Crescent Beach, opening for the season May 15.
