When a historical home is lovingly renovated it’s given a second chance for decades of memories to be created within its walls and that’s certainly the case with this week’s Dream Home.

Located in dreamy New Suffolk, this circa 1860s farmhouse has been fully restored to pay homage to its original roots.

“This is a historical home where, over the years, two buildings have been joined together. One of the key design principles from designer/developer Bluebird North Fork was to add lots of natural light and to have a blended flow of indoor-outdoor living,” listing agent Rachel Rushforth-Worrell of Brown Harris Stevens told us. “But the interior will maintain the design of the original fabled farmhouse with refinished antique pine floors, antique doors and hardware.”

Design firm Bluebird North Fork thoughtfully works to consider what was and purposely builds aesthetics from there. Keeping the exterior of this house classic with a cedar shingled roof and simple white siding allows the house to maintain its seamless look in a neighborhood with many other historically significant homes.

Upon mid-April completion, the inside of the home will be comfortable yet luxe for modern family living.

“Bluebird North Fork is a female-led design company, and working with women as design contact, there’s a lot more consideration towards family life. Families want a home that’s been designed for useful living and the team at Bluebird does just that,” Rushforth-Worrell told us.

The home will have four bedrooms and four full bathrooms, two with showers and soaking tubs.

The main floor will feature a spacious living room, a flex office/den, a formal living room with an open-hearth gas fireplace, and an open high-end kitchen.

The designer is known for well-designed, luxe kitchens and this home will feature a La Cornue French 5-burner gas range in ivory, a Sub Zero refrigerator-freezer, and a coffee bar and central island.

The second floor is home to four bedrooms including the primary ensuite with a soaking tub. On this level is also a staircase leading up to the bonus third-floor insulated storage room.

In addition to an 18’ x 36’ Gunite pool, a sandy Peconic Bay beach is mere moments away.

The property is listed at $2,249,000.
