Summer marks the season to get out and catch some live music on Long Island.

Here on the North Fork, Dances in the Park is tops for live music. The weekly Monday night concert series has become almost synonymous with summertime in Greenport for its rocking bands and stunning waterfront backdrop.

But the North Fork isn’t the only corner of Long Island with live outdoor music series’ come summer. From Montauk to Jones Beach, here are a few series’ to check out. (more…)

The Rites of Spring Music Festival is back with a series of performances showcasing the beauty and history of the East End. 

Now in its fourth year, Italian-born pianist Paolo Bartolani founded the Rites of Spring music festival as a way for people of all ages to enjoy classical contemporary music through immersive concerts at non-traditional venues.

Saturday, Oct. 13, 5-6:30 p.m.: ‘Serenade Under the Stars’ at Custer Observatory, 1115 Main Bayview Road, Southold. Flutist Michelle LaPorte and guitarist Gerry Saulter perform contemporary works by composers  from Brazil, Argentina and Spain, such as classics by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Enrique Granados, original arrangements of works by Astor Piazzolla and more. Stargazing follows at nightfall, weather permitting. Admission: $20; $15 members. custerobservatory.org.
