House proud

Built in 1971, this house was completely renovated and then custom designed with pieces and finishes that were curated specifically for a re-imagined farmhouse by the lavender fields.

“We tried to honor as much of the original footprint of the house, which was really well built, but we wanted to bring in more charm and an earthy farmhouse vibe,” says Jaclyn Charron, the owner/interior designer. “We gave more purpose to certain spaces and gave it more scale and functionality.”

Sheri Winter Parker, the Corcoran agent representing the listing, says, “This house represents where the North Fork is going, and I think this is something you’re going to start seeing a lot more—a curated home specifically inspired by the North Fork. They are starting a trend.”

What’s the plan?

The home is entered through a covered porch that leads into a 112-square-foot foyer, which in turn offers access to the 500-square foot great room that combines the den and living room, dining area and an office. There is a custom-designed half bath on this floor with handcrafted terra cotta Zellige tiles from Morocco. The second floor features four bedrooms, one of which is a 235-square-foot primary suite with a large walk-in closet. The three bedrooms share a common full bathroom. The 1,003-square-foot basement is unfinished. The door to the two-car garage is insulated, so that the space can be converted into another use such as a gym or studio.

What’s cooking?

Cream-colored cabinets are topped with honed black soapstone, with a piece specially cut as the backsplash to the stove, giving it a distinct, European country kitchen look. The range and hood are Bertazzoni, the dishwasher is Bosch and the fridge is a Frigidaire. There is a wine fridge in the butler’s pantry. Charron says “I always wanted a pantry personally and I wanted it to feel like a color-drenched jewel box. It’s wrapped in shiplap and seamlessly waterfalls from floor to ceiling.”

What else?

The home is being entirely furnished and the pieces—both vintage and new upholstered furniture—were especially curated for this home. Charron says, “We put a lot of hope and care into imagining the kind of lifestyle this home would offer and the kinds of furnishings that would match that.” There is a pool permit pending.

Amenities and more

  • Fully furnished
  • Butler’s pantry with beverage station
  • Woodburning fireplace
  • Access to Cedar Lane beach community

One cool thing

The work table, which conveys with the home, is a vintage Chinese alter table and reworked to function in the kitchen at counter height.

Agent’s callout

“There’s nothing on the market that’s turnkey like this,” says Parker. “You’re getting the best of both worlds – a home that is newly renovated and with incredible design and attention to detail all within the purchase price.”

Location, location, location

The home is .4 miles from Lavender by the Bay and, indeed, is nicknamed “Lavender House” for its proximity and views over the fields. It is .7 miles from the village of East Marion. Also nearby are Island’s End Golf & Country Club, Marion Lake and the dog-friendly Ruth Oliva Preserve at Dam Pond.
