The nuts and bolts

4,663 square feet

6.5 acres

House proud

At the end of a long driveway, this home, built in 2006, offers complete privacy on two lots. Sited on a knoll and surrounded by mature trees, it overlooks Goose Creek and offers expansive views beyond to the bay. Updated and refreshed, it has the feel of a stylish boutique home.

“This is a great house for either summer or year round use,” says Roric Tobin, the Compass listing agent representing the property. “Surrounded by six acres of your own land, you don’t get a sense of anyone around you–it’s a private oasis with a nice approach from the driveway.”

He added, “Being set on a knoll gives you sweeping views over the water. And this house takes advantage of that.”

What’s the plan?

The main floor includes the common rooms, a sunroom and two bedrooms that share a bath. Of the four bedrooms on the second floor, two—including the primary—are ensuite and the other two share a bathroom. Tobin says the original owner/builder “really planned ahead” by setting up both the lower level and the attic to be easily finished and converted to usable space. HVAC and electrical wiring are in place for both spaces, and the lower level has plumbing and egresses— “everything in place to make it whatever the next owner envisions,” he says.

What’s cooking?

The large eat-in kitchen is outfitted with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, custom cabinetry and granite counters. The peninsula seats three. There’s also a separate pantry and food storage closet, and a service beverage bar adjacent to the dining room.

What else?

The entire exterior and interior were recently repainted and the interior hardware and light fixtures were updated along with some of the furnishings. All the tiled spaces have radiant heating.

Amenities and more

  • Heated saltwater gunite pool
  • Private dock
  • Sauna in primary bathroom
  • Woodburning fireplace
  • Outdoor shower

One cool thing

Tobin calls out the pool with a view: “Having water views from your heated saltwater gunite pool is a rarity and having it set into the deck as part of the entertaining area is a huge plus.”

Agent’s callout

“This house is very classically detailed and has an intimate scale to it,” Tobin says. “Each room is large but well proportioned and feels really well thought out and stylish.”

Location, location, location

There is water, water everywhere: In addition to adjacency to Goose Creek leading to Southold Bay, the house is near Corey Creek and Moyle Cove, leading to Hog Neck Bay. Tobin said though the house has an “estate feel to it,” the area in general is casual water lifestyle with community places such as the former Southold General (now Stone Street Coffee), 2.4 miles from the house. Founders Landing Park is 3.3 miles, and in the other direction, Peconic is 3.4 miles away.
