There are the classic (dare we say stereotypical…) Dad’s Day gifts and things to do — barbecues, beer, boating. All good stuff! But this Father’s Day, why not look to our local wineries for Dad’s day? Several are honoring dad in venerable vino style, with specials, treats and all-around high-fives for the guy who helped bring you in and bring you up. Check ’em out…

Patriarch Joe Macari knows that dad’s need some extra attention sometimes, so Macari Vineyard’s is kicking off their super fun Vineside Fridays on Father’s Day weekend in honor of all the good dads out there. End dad’s week on a high note June 13, when Macari will be offering up sunset fun from 4 to 8 p.m., complete with deliciousness from Braun’s food truck and tastings and glasses of winemaker Byron Elmendorf’s excellent award-winning vino. Head to Harbes for a full-on Father’s Day Festival from Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15, with half-price admission for dads. Harbes’s Barnyard Adventure admission ($28.75) includes a musical hayride tour of the 100-acre farm, pig races and a sports zone with football, baseball and basketball-tossing games. Kids will love the musical animatronic chicken show, while parents can dance to the music of Nick Picarella on Saturday and Matt Taylor on Sunday. Fly on over to the Osprey for the best of what Long Island has to offer: oysters and wine (or beer!). Both the oyster bar and beer garden will be open for dad, with the live music of Scott Goldstein from 1 to 5 p.m. You can even reserve your own private space for dad in the form of OD’s private tents for your crew for up to three hours with 20% off any wine bottle purchase during that time. The Sannino family will be honoring all dads on Sunday, June 15 with a special housemade brandy tasting for snifter-centric dads, as well as a complimentary Sannino corkscrew, special poppa’s day discounts and live music from 1-4 p.m.

The tasting room will be closed early on Father’s Day due to their Wine Club pick-up party (which, if you’re a member, have at it), but winemaker and good dad Roman Roth has set aside a special afternoon of live music on Sunday, June 15 for all the dads and families to come enjoy at the Wine Stand on tktktk from 2 to 5p.m. Dad will be in the pink with groovy tunes and Roth’s famed, lovely rosé.

Beachcomber Wines

Is dad a super oenophile into the latest, cool bottlings of Long Island wine? Hit up the Shelter Island History Center’s weekly farmers market to taste the just-launched wines of Macari assistant winemaker, Sam Wood Jr., whose Beachcomber line offers some exciting, innovative new tastes around these parts, like his rosé co-ferment and pet nat-style red. For dads who dig meats, cheeses and bubbles, he’ll love celebrating Father’s Day at the Sparkling Pointe Tasting House. On both Saturday June 14 and Sunday June 15, they’re offering a special charcuterie and cheese board featuring local, pasture raised handmade delectables from La Salumina, served alongside a large format bottle-tasting flight.
