There’s never been a better week to be a local Long Island wine lover. For the third year in a row, Long Island Wine Country will present Long Island Locals Week, eight days of wine country deals on both forks and opportunities to taste our homegrown liquid pride and joy.
“This week is about celebrating our community and showcasing the incredible quality of Long Island wines,” said Melissa Rockwell, president of Long Island Wine Country and director of operations at Sparkling Pointe in a statement to the press. “Whether you’re from around the corner or commuting from the city, we want locals to explore, connect and enjoy all that our wine country has to offer.”

When you present your valid New York State ID, participating wineries will offer you a complimentary winemaker’s choice wine tasting, and other surprises are in store, too. Wineries ready to turn you into a Long Island wine lover (if you aren’t already one) include:
- Bridge Lane Wine
- Chronicle Wines
- Clovis Point
- Coffee Pot Cellars
- Duck Walk VIneyards
- Ev&Em Vineyards
- Fire Island Vines

With close to 60 wine producers on Long Island with over 50 years honing the craft, it’s a pretty exciting time to embrace local wine, the diversity and high quality of which has been turning heads and winning awards far beyond our Empire State borders.
Before you head out, though, take a few tips from us: If there’s a winery in Long Island Locals Week that you really want to make sure you check out, make a reservation, as the winemaker’s tasting will last as availability affords. Also: Make sure you have a designated driver (or someone in your group who’s willing to act all pro and do the swirl, sip, spit routine) and as always: bring your patience and graciousness. Crankiness never pairs well with wine.
