While a Parisian café is an ocean away, the North Fork is packed with places full of perfect pastries. Think a food truck with the fluffiest scones and a Greenport newcomer with croissants and service as warm as the coffee. These North Fork spots for pastries make life sweeter (whether you reached your fall baking goals or not).
North Fork Flour Shoppe, Various, 631-983-9800
Meghan Saccone set up North Fork Flour Shoppe out of her Jamesport home during the early days of the pandemic in 2020. To say it’s rolled on is an understatement, but literally accurate. Saccone has since taken the shop on the road in a pretty-in-pink truck that complements the best-selling, signature pink rainbow cookies bursting with almond flavor. The scones also have pastry pals checking North Fork Flour Shoppe’s Instagram account to see where the truck will stop next. Blueberry is a favorite, but the pumpkin chocolate chip is gaining steam this fall. “I always tell customers who claim they don’t like scones to at least give mine a try,” Saccone says. “Their opinion usually changes. They are light, fluffy, flavorful and moist — even the kids love them.”
Pip’s Cafe & Provisions, 218 Main St., Greenport, 631-318-0363
Pip’s opened in late spring 2024 in the place once occupied by D’Latte’s and became an instantly sweet sensation. Many of the baked goods are made in-house, including cookies and chocolate croissants that prove sometimes, flakiness is rich. Sandwiches, meats and veggies sourced from local farm stands are also available on-site, making Pip’s a spot for a well-balanced meal.
Bourdon Patisserie, 437-441 Main St., Greenport
Late May and early June with monster months for Greenport’s resident and visiting sweet tooths. In addition to Pip’s, Bourdon Patisserie opened its doors inside Zey Hotel. Zach Erdem, who stars in the reality TV show Serving the Hamptons, dreamt up the space and packed it full of strawberry and pistachio croissants and cranberry muffins that look as good as they taste. Macarons, strawberry cakes and brioche bread also make the menu, as do heartier meals like avocado toast, salads and eggs.

The Treatery, 1564 Main Road, Jamesport, 631-779-2883
For Christina Padrazo, The Treatery is a way to carry on the legacy of her late grandfather, John, who once owned a restaurant in Commack. On Friday nights, she watched the back of the house make serving a crowd appear effortless. Now in the driver’s seat (sometimes literally — the mobile dessert bar is a 1964 Shasta Airflyte Camper named Stella), Padrazo and her team make signature cookies reminiscent of childhood afterschool snacks, like chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. But the recently relaunched hand-rolled, scratch-made croissants are a hidden gem.
Blue Duck Bakery Café, Multiple Locations
Nancy and Keith Kouris hatched their first bakery in Southampton in 1999 and have since expanded the “village bakery” to brick-and-mortar in Greenport and Southold. The flaky, buttery turnovers have fans flocking to both the North and South Forks year-round. Among the other offerings: Butter cookies, brownies, tarts and artisan breads of all shapes and sizes (Sauerkraut rye and French baguettes? Check and check).

Southold General, 54180 Main Road, 631-458-1275
Affectionately known as “The General,” this upmarket general store’s patio and pastries make it a local watering hole with a casually elegant twist. Take the croissant egg sandwich on a flaky pastry with gruyere and chive. Or, ditch the egg and opt for dessert for breakfast in the form of a chocolate croissant. Quiches and muffins are other fine breakfast choices. The General also has a menu that would make Starbucks salute — flat whites, Americanos and cortados (mini cappuccinos) are among the jolt-inducing cups of Joe.
Junda’s Pastry Crust & Crumbs, 1612 Main Road, Jamesport, 631-722-4999
While many of us don’t wind up becoming what we said we’d be when you grew up, Christopher Junda always dreamt of opening a bakery. He now owns Junda’s Pastry Crust & Crumbs. Inside, the pies, seasonal cookies (like skeletons come Halloween), chruściki (a Polish pastry honoring Junda’s roots), apple cider donuts, danishes and raspberry-cheese strudel are all homemade — everything is. It’s all served in a found in an 18th-century Jamesport farmhouse that epitomizes the bucolic nature that draws people to the North Fork and keeps them here.
