When thinking about what to order for breakfast, more often than not a hearty egg-based meal comes to mind. From upscale brunch spots to casual cafes, there’s no shortage of places on the North Fork to kickstart your day with this breakfast staple.

Whether you’re in the mood for a classic BEC or something a little more adventurous, we’ve curated a list of some of our favorite egg sandwiches and dishes on the North Fork.

IN A WRAP

CALIFORNIA BREAKFAST CREPE | Encanto Crêpes & Cafe, Greenport

This Colombian-style crepe is a favorite among Encanto’s owners and is one of ours too. Crumbly bacon bits, egg, mozzarella cheese and avocado are carefully wrapped in a light and savory crepe and finished off with a drizzle of chipotle sauce.

A hidden gem in Southold, this Salvadoran restaurant offers a simple, tasty quesadilla filled with scrambled eggs and cheese.

BREAKFAST BURRITO | Barrow Food House, Riverhead

ON A BAGEL

THE SPICY HOBO | Black Sheep Bagels, Jamesport

Spicy, cheesy goodness with a bit of crunch. This popular sandwich features two eggs, bacon, pepper jack cheese, a hash brown and hot sauce on your choice of bagel.

BACON EGG & CHEESE | Goldberg’s Famous Bagels, Mattituck

BEC lovers know that the quality of a bagel can make or break a sandwich. Crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, the bagels at Goldberg’s are what puts this classic combo on our list.

SAUSAGE EGG & CHEESE | Signature Bagels, Riverhead

Often overshadowed by Long Island’s love for BEC, we think sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel is a solid breakfast choice and this Riverhead-based bagel spot knows how to make them right.

ON A CROISSANT

THE BRUNCH SANDWICH | North Fork Roasting Company, Southold

A fried egg, sharp cheddar and smoked ham are paired with fresh arugula and sweet apricot Dijon spread to craft this sweet and savory croissant sandwich.

CROISSANT EGG SANDWICH | Southold General, Southold

Creamy folded-over eggs, gruyere and chives are stacked on an everything-pretzel croissant, ready-made for your convenience.

EGG SANDWICH | Goodfood., Mattituck

This sandwich made on a toasted croissant features cheesy scrambled eggs, tomatoes and Dijon butter. Add bacon and avocado for an extra filling meal.

ON A BUN

EGG SANDWICH | Bruce & Son, Greenport

For those looking to indulge in a bit of luxury, brunch at Bruce & Son is a must-try. We’d recommend getting their egg sandwich: a folded omelet with gruyere and sugar bacon is topped with pickled onion, baby arugula and Dijonnaise — all served on a brioche bun.

EGG SANDWICH | Alpina, Greenport

During weekend brunch, Alpina offers a Swiss-inspired egg sandwich made with Bündnerfleisch, a dry, aged meat that hails from Switzerland. The traditional meat is served on a bakery-made potato bun with scrambled eggs, pistachio pesto, black garlic aioli and red rocket arugula.

ON A ROLL

KIELBASA SANDWICH | Wendy’s Deli, Mattituck

Paying homage to the North Fork’s roots as a Polish immigrant community, Wendy’s Kielbasa, egg, and cheese on a roll that’s cherished by locals and visitors alike.
