PSA: Thanksgiving is less than 30 days away. While your gathering may look different this year one thing is for certain, you won’t want to leave out the bird.

Here are five places to get your local North Fork turkey or chicken for Thanksgiving this year.

Browder’s Birds – 4050 Soundview Ave., Mattituck

The farm’s flock of broad-breasted bronze turkeys are raised in an organic pasture and will be processed on-farm for pick-up on Monday, November 23 – Wednesday, November 25. These free-range, pastured turkeys are certified organic by NOFA-NY. Turkeys range from 12-20 lbs. and cost $9 per pound. Reserve your turkey here.

Miloski’s Poultry Farm – 4418 Middle Country Rd., Calverton

Although they do not take pre-orders, fresh turkeys will be available beginning on Saturday, November 21. Turkeys are $5.50 per pound and range from 10-30 pounds. Miloski’s Poultry Farm is open 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. the week leading up to Thanksgiving. Cash only.

8 Hands Farm – 4735 Cox Ln., Cutchogue

This Cutchogue farm is offering pasture-raised, organically fed red-feathered chicken this year. The cost is $8.50 per pound and the chickens start at 5 pounds. Visit their website to reserve and to view their full thanksgiving selections.

Goodale Farms – 250 Main Rd., Riverhead

Goodale Farms isn’t just offering turkeys, they’re offering everything you need to make the entire holiday meal and delivering it to your door. In each Thanksgiving package, you’ll receive a fresh turkey (sizes range from 8-10 lbs. to 26-28 lbs.), cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, a pumpkin or apple pie, two Goodale Farms kinds of cheese and 8 oz. of the farm’s butter. Feisty Acres Farm

Although all turkey pre-orders are sold-out, Feisty Acres Farm will have a few heritage breed turkeys available for open market purchase at the Brooklyn (Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket) and Manhattan (Union Square Greenmarket) Farmers Markets in November.
