Enjoy an afternoon of local art culminating in an evening of North Fork fare, wine and a live auction. The first North Fork Art District Tour is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 25. The self-guided tour features two North Fork galleries and an artist studio, before wrapping up with a three-course wine-pairing dinner at A Lure Restaurant in Southold.

Stops include William Ris Gallery in Jamesport, Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue and the Hector deCordova Studio in Greenport. Throughout the day, participants will leisurely view gallery exhibits, meet artists and watch creative demonstrations. Guests are also encouraged to explore the North Fork in between art destinations to take in all the region has to offer.

The coordination of this project has been led by gallery owner Alex Ferrone and Duncan Kennedy, proprietor of Jamesport’s Duncan Inn and president of North Fork Promotional Council, which is sponsoring the event.

William Ris Gallery, located at 1291 Main Road, displays fine art and American craft from a variety of artists. Now celebrating 50 years in business (three on the North Fork), William Ris is located adjacent to the shared Sherwood House and Hound’s Tree Wines tasting room.

Mary Cantone, owner and director of the William Ris Gallery, said the event will bring well-deserved attention to the North Fork’s art scene.

“Visual art is essential and this program will be an opportunity for the community to connect, highlight artists and make introductions with collectors and art enthusiasts,” she said.

Farther east in Cutchogue, Alex Ferrone Gallery, located at 25425 Main Road, exhibits and sells contemporary fine art works by mid-career and emerging artists. A commercial and fine art aerial photographer, Ferrone’s works have been published in Wine Spectator, Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.

Continuing east to downtown Greenport, Hector deCordova Studio, located at 538 Main Street, allows visitors to see where the namesake artist works. deCordova is a fine artist working in various mediums. His works are available for private/corporate collection and exhibition.

The gallery tours are from noon to 5 p.m. The Director’s Dinner, included in the ticket price, will be held at 5 p.m. at A Lure, located on the water at 62300 Main Road in Southold. There will be a meet-and-greet hour followed by the three-course wine-paring dinner and a live art auction. Guests will also receive special edition art gifts from each destination.

Tickets for the first North Fork Art District Tour are $135, and can be purchased online at northforknow.org/art-district-tour.

Additional North Fork Art District Tour dates are Sundays, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 27 and feature the studios of Caroline Waloski, Scott McIntire and Lori Hollander, along with different exhibitions at Alex Ferrone Gallery and William Ris Gallery.
