One of the North Fork’s most recognizable waterfront restaurants will once again be a destination for New York City slices this summer.
Williamsburg Pizza in Brooklyn has opened a satellite location at Claudio’s, adjacent to the waterfront in the former Clam Bar Express, the same storefront that briefly housed another NYC-based pizzeria, Lazzara’s, last summer.
Dubbed Pizzeria Baccano, the grab-and-go style eatery is serving up fresh, traditional Brooklyn round pies and slices in addition to specials such as margherita, clam, hot pepperoni, cremini mushrooms and more. All the pizzas will be made onsite in a wood-fired oven.
Nino Coniglio, who owns Williamsburg Pizza, recently took home the title of pizza maker of the year at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. This is is Coniglio first location on the East End.
“When the opportunity to bring such a celebrated pizzaiola like Nino Coniglio was in front of us, we could not pass it up,” said Claudio’s operating manager Stephen Loffredo. “His passion for community and love for quality and tradition was a perfect fit for what we are striving to achieve. It was also a great way to offer an easy and accessible food option at a reasonable price for everyone that comes to our property.”
In addition to Pizzeria Baccano, the new upstairs at Claudio’s is now open at main restaurant. The space overlooking Greenport Harbor is designed to accommodate the late-night crowd with live music and 28 craft cocktails created with local ingredients by beverage director Brian Sassen.
The second floor lounge is called “Up Stirrs at Claudio’s,” a play on its cocktail-centric menu. The space is a throw back to the property’s Prohibition era history with period photos hanging on walls. It also boasts a private dining wine cellar, lunch and dinner seating.
Up Stirrs at Claudio’s will be open year-round, featuring weekly Wednesday and Friday late nights from 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. with live music starting at 10 p.m.
Pizzeria Baccano will be open year-round on Thursdays from 4 to 9 p.m., Fridays from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturdays from noon to 2 a.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
