Paumanok Vineyards’ minimalist chardonnay and Channing Daughters Winery’s 2014 pètillant natural rosato are both excellent wines to sip this summer, according to the New York Post.
Those are two of the six Long Island wines selected by wine and spirits writer and Long Island Merlot Alliance director Amy Zavatto, whose picks were published on the Post’s website May 19.
“This pink-hued, 2014 rosato pétillant naturel, $26, from Channing Daughters Winery is a bone-dry bubbly that’s ideal for summer,” Zavatto said of the Channing Daughters selection, the subject of the Long Island Wine Press’ spring 2015 cover story.
The Post also interviewed Joey Wölffer, co-owner of Wölffer Estate Vineyard and daughter of vineyard founder Christian Wölffer, who will open a fashion boutique in Sag Harbor this summer.
“I am starting with bags, then accessories, jewelry and eventually clothing,” Wölffer told the newspaper. “If anyone can build a lifestyle brand around the Hamptons, I can.”
The Sagaponack winery will also soon open “Wölffer Kitchen,” a restaurant on Main Street in Sag Harbor, according to the New York Times. The new eatery will be located in the building that most recently housed The Cuddy restaurant, according to Dan’s Papers.
