Sunday Dec. 15, the Cutchogue Fire Department will host its second annual Stuff the Sleigh 5K Race and Walk to benefit children in need this holiday season, along with a number of not-for-profit groups benefiting firefighters.

Registered participants will run or walk a 5K course beginning at the Cutchogue Fire House, past farms in New Suffolk along with historic buildings and the waterfront before ending back up at the firehouse.

The top three male and female runners in different age groups will receive awards, along with the top two male and female fire, EMS, police and peace officers.

A $30 registration fee applies the day of the race, with proceeds benefitting the Cutchogue Fire Department Scholarship Fund, the Firefighter Cancer Support Network and the American Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Kids can also take part in the fun, running a shorter course starting at 9:15. Their cost to participate is two cans of nonperishable food to be donated to local pantries.

All participants are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy, which will be donated to area charities.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Cutchogue firehouse, 260 New Suffolk Road. For more information visit www.stuffthesleigh5k.com.
