With cold-stun season approaching, endangered sea turtles will be turning up across the island in need of medical care. To help raise awareness and much needed funds, the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation is hosting its 16th annual 5K Run for the Ridley on Saturday Oct. 26 in Riverhead. On Saturday Oct. 26, Sleepy Hollow Cattle Ranch in Riverhead is hosting a Kids’ Cowboy-themed Halloween event and horsemanship show, which will be hosted a true cowboy, Missouri-raised cattleman and bareback bronco rodeo competitor, Shane Ely, who operates the Riverhead ranch. (more…)

Noah’s restaurant in Greenport is serving a special cocktail through the month of October to raise money for ALS research.

A joint collaboration between Noah’s and the relatives of an East Marion man who was diagnosed with the disease three years ago, “The Cure” is a $12 cocktail made with Meyer lemon vodka, negroni, aperol and vermouth. One hundred percent of proceeds from each sale of the drink will be donated to the ALS Association, a spokesperson for Noah’s said.
