Maria Schultheis was working in the kitchen at Greeny’s, a store that would become her own Maria’s Kitchen, when she saw a heart appear on a piece of foil covering a steaming pot of quinoa and vegetable soup. The unmistakable shape formed like a black and white photo developing in a darkroom. So she framed it. (more…)

Mexican cuisine meets Guatemalan spice at a recently opened eatery in Greenport.
Tikal 1, which opened its doors on Front Street late last month, is the new venture from Southold couple Carlos Gonzalez and his wife Emma Rodriguez as well as Rodriguez’s daughter Gelen Giron and her husband Gilberto Leon. The younger pair live in Greenport. (more…)
