The bars of Riverhead drew people from the East End and beyond for the inaugural Oktoberfest pub crawl on Sunday.
The event wasn’t as well attended as the recent Santacon pub crawl or the St. Patrick’s Day-themed March of the Leprechauns (exact attendance numbers for Oktoberfest were not immediately available). And there were also far fewer people donning lederhosen on Sunday then there were wearing red suits or green T-shirts for the previous events. Still, it was a way to liven up downtown on what would likely be an otherwise sleepy Sunday. (more…)

Can Santa get a little service over here?
Ordering a drink at Joe’s Garage and Grill on Saturday wasn’t exactly easy for Jolly Old Saint Nick — or really my friend Jaan in a cheap red suit — as he stood at the end of the bar waving a $20 bill. That’s not a knock on the downtown eatery; it was just slammed with scores of fake-white-bearded customers clamoring for a bartender’s attention. (more…)
