It wasn’t your average paint night.

Trading canvas, paint and easel for rice paper, ink and a freshly caught sea bass, our class of about 20 got a hands-on look at the art of gyotaku last Friday.

Dissected, the Japanese word means gyo, fish, and taku, rubbing. Croton-on-Hudson based artist Joe Mullins has been making these fish prints for more than a decade. (more…)

The 2017 East End Seaport Museum’s Land & Sea Gala held at the Greenport Yacht & Shipbuilding Company.

The 28th annual East End Maritime Festival in Greenport kicked off Friday night with the Land and Sea Gala.

More than 20 local restaurants served up tastes accompanied by liquid refreshment from local wineries and beverage producers. The Maritime Festival continues Saturday and Sunday. See more photos below and check back for additional coverage from Saturday’s events. (more…)

Visit some of the oldest and most storied lighthouses from here to Rhode Island during a lighthouse “super cruise” next week.

Riders will visit 12 lighthouses during the annual cruise sponsored by the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation. The event is set for Monday, Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
