A wall of colorful kilim pillows greets the eye when one first enters TouchGOODS, a new home goods store in Southold.

From there different pieces of furniture, both wood and rattan, compete for attention, as owner Norine Pennacchia wades through them, deciding how they’ll be displayed.

TouchGOODS is Ms. Pennacchia’s creation which grew out of a love of furniture, both old and new. Currently she is stocking and decorating the shop in order to be open by Saturday, March 19. (more…)

Long Island Sustainable Wine Growing members know that a bountiful harvest is about more than just collecting grapes from the vines. It’s about taking care of the people who do it, too.

That’s why the nonprofit is teaming up with the HRHCare Foundation to raise funds to help the wine region’s agricultural workers. (more…)

Walter Channing, founder and co-partner at Channing Daughters Winery in Bridgehampton, died March 12 following a long illness, Edible East End has reported. He was 74.

According to a biography on Channing Daughters’ website, he was born and raised in Boston, Mass., and graduated from Harvard College and the Business School. Later, Channing moved to New York City and became interested in “recovering and reworking discarded materials” like the wood from the demolition of Hudson Piers, transforming them into furniture, interior walls and art objects.  (more…)
