Shelter Island Friends of Music is thrilled to present award-winning pianist and composer Michael Stephen Brown in concert on Saturday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church. Described by the New York Times as “one of the leading figures in the current renaissance of performer-composers,” Brown will perform a program featuring works by Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Von Weber, Fauré, Beethoven, and original compositions. A post-concert reception with the artist will follow the performance.

Celebrating the Music of The Allman Brothers Band & Lynyrd Skynyrd

Writing another chapter in the legacy of The Allman Brothers Band, A Brother’s Revival – led by former Allman Brothers bassist David “Rook” Goldflies joined by Mike Kach (former member of Dickey Betts and Great Southern) – brings the music of the Allman Brothers to life every time they step on stage.

During the two-and-a-half-hour show, David leads A Brothers Revival through all the Allman Brothers’ classics: Jessica, One Way Out, Statesboro Blues, Midnight Rider, Melissa, Ramblin’ Man, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Whipping Post, and a few surprises for the fans that enjoy the deep jams. These brothers perform the songs with authentic passion while paying homage to the improvisational spirit of the original band, pushing the songs to new heights.

G.E. Smith and The American Blues Series Is Back With Special Guest Grammy Winner Albert Lee!

Get ready for the soul-stirring rhythms of blues legends G.E. Smith and Albert Lee when these two iconic television musical directors join forces for one night only!

G.E. Smith is one of the most in-demand blues guitarists and musicologists in the world. He may be best recognized as the Emmy-award winning bandleader for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, but he has also done extensive touring playing in the bands of Bob Dylan, Roger Waters and recording with artists such as Mick Jagger, Tom Waits and many more. His first big break however came in 1979 when he teamed up with Daryl Hall and John Oates. Needless to say, G.E. Smith is a true savant of his craft.

Albert Lee is a Grammy Award-winning British guitarist and multiple recipient of Guitar Player Magazine’s “Best Country Guitarist” who is celebrated by fans and musicians the world over for his fingerstyle and hybrid picking technique. Lee has worked both in the studio and on tour with many notable musicians from a wide range of genres including Eric Clapton, the Everly Brothers, Bill Wyman, Emmylou Harris, Joe Cocker, Jackson Browne, Rosanne Cash, and more. In 2002, he appeared on stage at the Concert for George, celebrating the life and music of Beatle George Harrison.
Albert is touring the USA, Canada and England in 2024 and 2025 celebrating the release of his new album, LAY IT DOWN. Recorded at the legendary Konk Studios in London in March 2024, LAY IT DOWN is a tribute to some of Albert’s favorite artists and biggest inspirations.
