The Mattituck Park District will host a blood drive with the New York Blood Center from 12-6 p.m. Donors should eat well, stay hydrated, bring a photo ID, and be feeling well on the day of donation. Eligible donors are generally ages 17–75. Sixteen-year-olds may donate with parental consent, while those 76 and older need written physician approval. Minimum weight requirements apply. Appointments are available here. Donors will receive a T-shirt while supplies last.

At 10 a.m., Riverhead Town will host its 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at the World Trade Center Memorial Park in Calverton. The ceremony will honor those who died in the attacks and recognize the first responders and recovery workers who served in their aftermath. More information can be found here.

Southold Town Firefighters’ Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony | Jean Cochran Park, 2405 Peconic Ln., Peconic, 631-655-4318
The Southold Town Fire Chiefs’ Council will honor those who died on 9/11, with members of fire departments across the North Fork gathering to pay their respects and lay wreaths. The Southold 9/11 Memorial Committee and community members will also place 2,977 American flags across the park in honor of each life lost in the attacks. Attendees gather at 5 p.m. with the official ceremony beginning at 6 p.m.

Join the North Fork Chapter of ReWild Long Island from 10-11:30 a.m. for a free guided walk exploring Long Island’s native plants, co-led by Taralynn Reynolds, outreach director for Group for the East End. The walk will highlight native species and the unique plant communities of the North Fork. The morning will also include a chapter meeting with updates on upcoming garden tours, plant sales, workshops, volunteer opportunities, composting, and native plant and seed swaps. Get ready for an unforgettable night of tango, featuring music from the classic sounds of the 1930s to the revolutionary work of Astor Piazzolla and contemporary tango by Pedro Giraudo. The evening will feature live performances by Sami Merdinian (violin), Shinjoo Cho (bandoneón), Jun Cho (piano) and Pedro Giraudo (bass), with dancers Mariana Parma and Leonardo Sardella. From 7-9 p.m., the program explores how tango evolved from humble beginnings in cafés and dance halls to the concert stage, with stories about legendary tango composers and an introduction to the genre’s signature rhythms, including tango, milonga and waltz.
