Summer is just around the corner, and the best adventures are filling up fast! From outdoor explorations to creative workshops and sports, summer camps offer fun experiences your kids will talk about all year long. Spots are limited and popular programs tend to sell out quickly, so now’s the perfect time to secure your spot.

Tiny Farmers, Oregon Road Organics, 12595 Oregon Road, Cutchogue, 631-735-9195

Hands-on educational program where kids can work in a children’s garden and learn about composting, pollinators, soil health and more. Every Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon from July 9-August 27. Monthly sessions are $485 per child per month; sibling discounts available. Full monthly enrolllment is required.

Peconic Community Summer, Peconic Community School, 27685 Main Road, Cutchogue, 631-734-8290

Kids ages three through fourth grade can experience a nature-centered summer experience, exploring the outdoors, doing crafts and participating in learning activities. The program runs June 29 to Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the option for an extended day. Priced at $915 per week with discounts available.

Paul Drum Life Experience Project, P.O. Box 10, Greenport, 516-459-9141

The nonprofit Paul Drum Life Experience Project hosts 8 weeks of free classes in July and August held at Front Street Station (212 Front Street, Greenport), focusing on a different subject each week like puppetmaking, beekeeping and ice cream making, with trips to a Fireman’s Fair, Police Fest and a Greenport harbor sail. Future Stars Summer Camps, Greenport American Legion, 102 Third St., Greenport, 631-602-0879

Kids ages 3 to 12 can sign up for a June 6 to Aug. 14 day camp from 9 to 2 p.m. Younger campers can learn, play and grow with older kids participating in athletic, art and STEAM activities. Priced at $795 per week and $745 per week when registering for three weeks or more.

Summer Day Camp, The Village of Greenport Recreation Center, 612 Third St., Greenport, 631-477-1133

From June 29 to Aug. 21 children ages 4 through 12 are eligible to sign up for the day camp centered around local attractions, parks, recreational activities and North Fork library events from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the full eight weeks, it is $2,000 with the weekly rate at $250. The daily rate is $50 and parents must put down a $250 deposit.

Free-Range and Pre-K Kids Camp, Browder’s Birds, 4050 Soundview Ave., Mattituck, 631-599-3394

From Aug. 3 to 6 and 17 to 20, children three to 12 years old will feed and water chicks, collect eggs, work with wool and fiber, back and plant. Parents pay $400 per session.

Farm Camp, Hallockville Museum Farm, 6038 Sound Avenue, Riverhead, 631-298-5292

For ages 5-12, a day camp where kids can feed the farm animals and do farm chores, as well as themed projects and activities. The camp runs 7 weeks from June 29-August 14 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost is $460/week; scholarships and discounts are available.

Summer Adventure Days, Long Island Aquarium, 431 East Main Street, Riverhead, 631-208-9200

For ages 3-16, Summer Adventure Days provides weekly programs for kids in July and August with themes like sharks, zoology, marine mammals, adventurers and marine biology. Price varies based on program; aquarium members save 10%; 3.5% discount for cash payment. Those who book by April 15 can save an additional 15%.

Campers ages 8 to 16 can sign up for an eight week sleep away option where they stay at rustic cabins, with counselors, eat from a dining hall, attend assemblies and ceremonies and explore nature through various activities. Those looking for a day camp experience, for those in first grade through 13 years old, integrate with sleep away camper activities, with 5 through 7 year olds doing separate programming with others their age. Both overnight and day camp runs from July 29 to Aug. 22. Overnight is $840 per week with available discounts, $420 per half session and $250 for stay over weekends. Day campers pay $550 per week with add-ons and discounts available.

Quinipet Camp and Retreat Center, 99 Shore Road, Shelter Island, 631-749-0430

This Christian-based camp emphasizes personal growth, community and making connections, with lots of outdoor activities that take full advantage of this historical camp’s pretty perch on the waterside. Both day and overnight camp sessions are offered for kids 8 to 15 (with a a special 15 and up “senior campers” program, too, that takes teens on hikes through the local nature preserve Mashomack, kayaking tours of Coecles Harbor, and other valuable day-tripping adventures). For overnight campers 9 and up, there’s a sailing option in the mix, too. Day camp sessions begin June 29 and run through Aug. 21; overnight camp sessions are as short as a week or summer-long, beginning Sunday, June 28 and running through Aug. 22.

From July 13 to July 31, get your little thespian signed up for this theater intensive workshop from Brooklyn Acting Lab. Culminating in a final performance for family, friends and the community at large, this three-week acting camp works on ensemble-based works of creative historical storytelling.

Summer Youth Programs, Sylvester Manor Educational Farm, 80 N. Ferry Road, Shelter Island, 631-749-0626

From June 29 to Aug. 21, kids of all ages will find their happy groove at Shelter Island’s historical gem, Sylvester Manor. There are multiple different themed programs available for kids ages 2 to 15, from the traditional farm-centric activities, taking advantage of the educational farm with its veggies, fruit and livestock, the the culinary-themed “Fig and Forest” camp, to an outdoor-centered theater camp.

Sea Adventures Marine Camp, Suffolk County Marine Environmental Learning Center, 3690 Cedar Beach Road, Southold, 631-852-8660

Based at CCE Marine Program’s waterfront facility in Southold, campers will learn about habitat restoration, aquaculture, SPAT and water quality projects while spending time on the beach for recreational activities; weekly trips to a local attraction are included. Sessions run from June 29 to August 21 for grades 2-8 five days a week. Cost is $575/session using debit or $592.25/session using credit card.

Hidden Lake Farm Riding School, 37250 Sound Ave., Southold, 631-495-3000

Pony camp for ages 5 and up runs during July and August, where campers learn about horses and their care. Activities include a daily riding lesson from NYS certified teachers and instruction on grooming and handling, horse care, crafts and games and horse and pony costume parties. Sessions run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. with a cost of $650/week, from July 1 to September 2.
