Long-time Greenport business owner Patty Carlos announced her retirement in July 2025 but took her time on choosing someone special to take over her building full of “good energy,” she says.
Carlos’ store Di Angela Leather Goods & Accessories closed doors on Dec. 24.
Come spring 2026, Simply Beautiful Boutique and Encanto Crêpes & Café will fill the four walls of the corner unit Carlos’ business called home for 37 years.
The connections are close to home for Carlos, being that Mireya Torres, owner of Simply Beautiful Boutique, is her sister-in-law and Gustavo Acero Jr., owner of Encanto Crêpes & Café, is her nephew and Torres’ son.
“It’s all in the family and I’m very happy that the corner is going to be nice and alive,” says Carlos.
In 2005, Torres launched her first lingerie line, Intimate Secrets, out of Carlos’ shop. Two years later, with Carlos’ guidance, she got her own space in Greenport — where her brand has stood since for almost two decades — and expanded her stock to create Simply Beautiful Boutique.

“In 2012, I realized that when you go to the lingerie store, it’s because you need something specific,” says Torres. “So, then we changed to become more of a boutique, but I always kept my lingerie.”
Now she sells dresses, coats and women’s clothing for all seasons at moderate prices.
With the move into the southern side of Di Angela’s former home, Torres will have double the space she has now and will expand her stock to include some of Carlos’ customers’ favorite products from the old store.
“That is wonderful for me because I know my customers were so disappointed about [me no longer selling] their shoes and their wallets,” says Carlos.
As for the vacancy at Simply Beautiful Boutique’s original home, Torres’ husband Gustavo Acero, owner of Not Just Bows will be making the move from his Front Street location to Main Street, bringing his business into her old storefront.
Renovations are in the works to divide the previous Di Angela’s building and to bring Encanto Crêpes & Café’s equipment into the north side on the corner.

“Our new space allows us to thoughtfully elevate the experience we offer,” says Acero. “More room to welcome our community, a warmer and more inviting atmosphere and the ability to better showcase the flavors and hospitality that define us.”
The moves among Carlos’ family members will bring a fresh spirit to her beloved building.
“It’s really emotional for me,” says Torres. “It’s special because she has an amazing store, she’s an amazing person and she deserves to retire now, but we are so excited to in some ways continue it in the family.”
