The reopening of the Old Mill Inn was the subject of much intrigue in Mattituck this spring, with lots of people who grew up going there wondering just what the revamped space would be like.
While not exactly like the Old Mill Inn of yore, it’s clear that this iteration of the venerable establishment (in operation since the 1800s) has been rethought with much care by owners Anthony Martignetti and Angela Ledgerwood and builder Glenn Heidtmann.
Amy Zavatto’s excellent article articulates just what went on behind the scenes of the project, which included placing 67 new pilings into the inlet bottom, installing a new bulkhead and moving the actual building onto West Mill Road until it could be raised five feet higher as FEMA required.

All the details of the food and drink menus, the old grain tower and the restaurant’s open-year-round status are addressed, with gorgeous accompanying photos by Doug Young; they even found the old millstone buried in the mud. So far, both old and new visitors seem to be equally impressed.
