Tea and Tchotchkes, the Greenport gift shop known for loose tea, clothing, housewares and unique gifts, will be closing up shop for good this month.
Opened in 2017 by Brittany Calvert and her husband Ken Deeg, the news was posted on the shop’s social media last Friday.
“Having this little shop has been one of the greatest joys of my life. The memories made within these walls — the conversations, the laughter, the familiar faces, the new friendships — are treasures I will carry with me forever. This store wasn’t just a place to shop … it was a community, a cozy corner of connection and a dream that I was lucky enough to live,” posted Calvert.
Tea and Tchotchkes’ boho style clothing, hats and jewelry lines are largely ethically made, sustainably manufactured brands such as Indigo Luna from Australia, CP Shades Linen and Jungmaven’s hemp clothing, both made in California.
Calvert was unavailable for comment but posted that she looked forward to new adventures and expressed gratitude for all her supporters. “I’ll cherish these years, these moments, and this community always. Here’s to what comes next — for all of us.”
The shop will be open the weekend before Christmas and open every day the week of the 21st, with all items in the shop on sale.
