A holistic hub with a unique backstory is set to host its grand opening this weekend.
Peter Scolaro is the owner of All Points Acupuncture (189 Main Road, Suite F, Riverhead, 631-369-5184).
On June 8 from noon to 2 p.m., the business will showcase all that it offers – giving tours of the facility, free samples, food and drinks.
Scolaro has worked in acupuncture for two decades.
He got his start just feet away from his current facility, at Aquebogue Health Chiropractic which lived in Suite A of the address, until 2024.
In just two rooms at the time, Scolaro provided acupuncture services privately, but also sometimes supplemented the work of the chiropractic office – whether that was to relax patients before their appointment or as an alternative measure for relief.
“There was a nice symbiotic relationship,” Scolaro said.
When the chiropractor closed its doors, Scolaro went searching for spaces to offer acupuncture out of. He had planned to operate his business out of Wading River but came right back to the 189 Main Road complex when the landlord gave him a call, to say that the back building was open for a tenant.
Come June, Scolaro was back serving the same community had started in.
What drew him to acupuncture in the first place was his biochemistry background and a bad knee injury he suffered right before attempting to return to the Marines as an officer, having served previously.
Doctors suggested operating on Scolaro, with no guarantee that his knee would ever be the same. More than six months after the injury occurred, he tried acupuncture as per his kung fu teacher’s suggestion – despite skepticism and having to pay out of pocket with no help from insurance.
“I gave it a whirl and after five weeks, my knee was pretty much fine and has been, ever since,” says Scolaro. “It made a believer out of me.”
He now shares that passion with his patients – many of which are high school and college athletes – coming in for injury care.
“I love working on athletes because they’ll do whatever it takes to get back on the field faster,” says Scolaro.
His military background has helped him to form special connections with his veteran clientele as well.
At All Points, treatment goes beyond just needles. Scolaro also uses electric stimulation for a more targeted approach plus forms of heat therapy. All of which help to heal everything from traumatic brain injuries to everyday aches and pains.
“I do treat a lot of weekend warriors – people who do yard work,” says Scolaro. “Everyone is getting into their gardens, so you twitch or tweak your back.”
Within the building, there is also a massage therapy treatment by Healing Holistically Inc. and aesthetic services by La Belle Vie Esthetics. Both will be showcasing their offerings on June 8.
