AQUEBOGUE
Modern Snack Bar, 628 Main Road, Aquebogue, 631-722-3655
Open for the season May 13. Modern Snack Bar is back for their 75th year of service. Classic include their bay scallops, roast loin of pork and key lime oysters. Daily specials, sandwiches, seafood and milkshakes can’t be missed. Open 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 12 to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
GREENPORT
American Beech, 300 Main St., Greenport, 631-477-5939
Open for the season April 12. The newly renovated restaurant has an updated look, feel and color scheme. Keep an eye out for weekly happy hour specials and swing by the cocktail lounge and courtyard for a drink. Open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner starting at 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Greenport spot plans to expand hours come summer.

Open for the season April 18. This seafood-based restaurant in the heart of Greenport village has a view of the harbor from their second-floor deck. Come for brunch or dinner and enjoy dishes like bouillabaisse, char-grilled local oysters, burgers, whole lobster, and fish and chips.

Open for the season May 1. Chilly and rainy though it’s been, that hasn’t stopped the fun at Billy’s, which opened for their 16th season. Hot and cold lobster rolls, people – nuff said. Be sure to check their music schedule for live bands every weekend, all spring and summer long. Currently serving lunch and dinner five days a week starting at noon, Wednesdays and Thursdays ‘til 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday ‘til 7:30 p.m. and Sunday is early bird day with last order in at 6 p.m.
Eddie’s at the Silver Sands Motel & Beach Bungalows, 1400 Silverere Road, Greenport, 631-997-1957
Open for the season May 23. Get ready for sandy toes, cool drinks and chef Finn O’Hara’s delicious Mediterranean-skewed menu. Lunch and dinner will be served Friday through Sunday to start, and as the days get longer, look for a Wednesday to Sunday schedule beginning June 25. Says owner Alex Perros: “Finn’s been putting the final touches on the menu this week and we’ve got some fun new additions that really capture the essence of Eddie’s — seafood-forward, sun-soaked, and a little unruly in the best way.” Get on Resy asap because tables go fast!
Port Waterfront Bar and Grill, 104 Third St., Greenport, 631-333-2501
Open for the season May 9, this seafood-centric stalwart on Greenport Harbor provides a good view of the ferry boats shuttling to Shelter Island as you sip a cocktail or dive into a bucket of beers with friends. Open Thursday from 5-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon-10 p.m. and Sunday from noon-9 p.m.; open on Memorial Day from noon-9 p.m.; call for updated hours as the season progresses.
Porto Bello, 1410 Manhanset Ave., Greenport, 631-477-1515
Open for the season May 1. This dockside spot is serving up a new 30 item menu with four to five specials a night. Dig into their local seafood and house pasta dishes. Currently open Thursday through Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m., they plan to expand their hours to include lunch come Memorial Day weekend. Also, a great spot to host an event this summer, in the vast catering space.

Open for the season May 3. Plenty of specials in store for the 2025 season at The Shipyard. With their ever evolving menu, customers can stop by for $20 Burger and Beer nights on select dates. Pasta made in-house, local beers, wines and French and Italian alcohols will keep you coming back. Hours are long weekends only now, Friday 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday 12 to 9 p.m., Sunday 12 to 8 p.m. and Mondays 4 to 9 p.m. but by Father’s Day, they plan to be open seven days a week.
MATTITUCK

Open for the season May 10. Located on beautiful grounds at the base of Mattituck Inlet, this is a dining destination for boaters and landlubbers alike. You’ll find classics like burgers, fried calamari and a selection of salads, with a separate pool menu and a dynamite lobster roll and coke deal for $19.95 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. daily. Open Wednesday-Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; check back in mid June for extended hours.
NEW SUFFOLK
Minnow at the Galley Ho, 650 First St., New Suffolk, 631-734-8474
Open for the season May 1. You’ll find a menu based on local fish here, with brunch, lunch, and dinner offerings, like ceviche, fish and ginger empanadas, and coconut basil poached fish with fennel and leeks. There’s docking space if you arrive by boat, and a beautiful view of Cutchogue Harbor and Robins Island as you dine. Open Thursday and Friday noon-9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; check back for extended hours at the end of the month.
ORIENT
Duryea’s Orient Point, 40200 Main Road, Orient, 631-323-2424
Open for the season May 16. Offering seafood towers, lobster rolls, pitchers of cocktails and a Mediterranean-inspired menu, this revamped restaurant overlooking Gardiner’s Bay can be reached by boat. Duryea’s also offers a beach club with a pared-down menu, where shaded tables on the sand can be reserved for parties of up to 18 (a $65 per person minimum spend is required). Current hours are Monday and Thursday 12-8 p.m., Friday 12-9 p.m., Saturday 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
SOUTHOLD
A Lure Chowder House & Oysteria, 62300 Main Road, Southold, 631-876-5300
Open for the season March 6. There’s lots of fun, new stuff going on to lure you into A Lure this season, with a newly revamped lunch and dinner menu as the star. Don’t worry, beloved dishes like the macadamia-crusted flounder are still there, but look out for new items like tuna nachos and a tempting taco bar of a half-dozen offerings to tempt you. Happy hour is still daily, but the discounted appetizer night has moved from Friday to Thursday. Friday is $12 martini night (in both the bar and dining room), and Sundays remain the day to bring in that special bottle of Long Island wine for no corkage fee, as well as the $44.95 prix fixe.

Open for the season April 4. New and signature dishes will make mouths water, like the monkfish tikka masala or the swordfish Milanese. They’re currently serving the Código Frozita Del Dia, a favorite among customers featuring Código Tequila, and a strawberry rhubarb margarita, made with local ingredients. Check out the exterior refurbishment including a new patio. Open from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Monday for dinner and 12 to 3 p.m. on weekends for lunch, the spot will switch to seven days a week, lunch and dinner, come Father’s Day.

The Shoals was not returning calls for opening dates, but their Instagram was hoping’ with news of chef Cheo Avila’s new food and drink pop-up, Maize, this summer at the Southold seaside spot. Served from a dedicated food truck on the premises, think a melding of South America-centric dishes with a kiss of Asian influences, with, as they’re purporting, “a zero-mile approach, sourcing ingredient as close to home as possible.” Good stuff; go get it!

Open for the season April 25. This seaside gem overlooking Mill Creek is ready with their excellent seafood-skewed menu (the kicky shrimp pomodoro is a fave of ours!) for the season. Spring hours are weekends only (dinner Fridays, lunch and dinner Saturday and Sunday) but stay tuned for more days as the weather warms.
SHELTER ISLAND
Salt Waterside Bar & Grill, 63 Menantic Road, Shelter Island, 631-749-5535
Open for the season May 9. Get that Boston Whaler out on the water and cruise on over to this dock-n-dine spot on Shelter Island in West Neck Harbor. Spring hours are weekends only for now, with Friday dinner starting at 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday starting at noon and running through the day. Call for closing times.
Kyle’s, 73 N. Ferry Road, Shelter Island, 631-749-0579
Early June opening. There are some changes at Kyle Seddio’s wonderful eatery this year with a more self-serve set-up, allowing customers to order from the new in-house screen menu. Individual pagers will alert you when your dish is ready, and you can grab any open seat you like, including on the lovely front porch. Seddio will still be making those dreamy donuts and other alluring baked goods, but she’s also offering a new mini gourmet market, great for specialty gifts for that hard to buy for friend or hostess! Season opening date is still TBD, but check her Facebook page for updates and announcements (we’re thinking early June!).
The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages, 81 Shore Road, Shelter Island, 631-749-0476
Open for the season May 9. This stylish Shelter Island inn transports guests to another place in time — and has a waterfront restaurant and bar (and a poolside bar). A sprawling outdoor deck provides views for days of Crescent Beach, and the menu prioritizes Long Island-sourced ingredients. The Crescent Bar is a circular wonder beneath a red and pink awning for a pre-dinner drink or happy hour.
Sunset Beach, 35 Shore Road, Shelter Island, 631-749-2001
Open for the season May 16. Found opposite Crescent Beach and two miles from North Ferry, Sunset Beach feels like a world away. The seasonal hotel boasts an on-site restaurant and bar, as well as a spacious outdoor patio area that allows guests to dine beneath the stars. The menu features swanky twists on classics, like burgers with Gruyère cheese, and caviar, locally sourced mushrooms and housemade breads are other staples.

Open for the season May 1. Perched on Shelter Island’s highest point, Goat Hill, 1901 Grill opened for the first time in mid-May in 2024. Located on the Shelter Island Country Club public golf course, the spot provides panoramic views of the undulating greens and beyond. Its first season last year was a smash — in part because of a Smash burger made with a pair of half-pound patties and served with fries. The approachable menu includes simple classics like steak frites, an excellent bluefish sandwich and other local faves.
