As sweet as it is, with an almost ginger-bread quality to it, “There is nothing cookie cutter about this house,” says Sheri Winter Parker, the Corcoran agent listing the property. The prior and current owners, she says, “took their time” with the improvements.

Built in 1996 and updated in 2017, the two-story house incorporates all the creature comforts — an oversized stone wood-burning fireplace and a newly added swimming pool — with modern living.

The home is entered via a covered porch that leads to a large and gracious foyer, which, in turn, flows into an open plan living, dining room and kitchen with a combined square footage of 832. The living room accented by cedar shingles and anchored by an oversized stone fireplace and hearth, flanked by doors leading to a 255-square-foot three-season porch with hardwood floors. Large pane-less windows provide plenty of light and clear views into the yard.

The kitchen is outfitted with premier appliance brands such as Miele, Wolf and Sub-Zero and includes a wine fridge. The custom wood country cabinets are topped with Caesarstone quartz, as is the center island which includes a prep sink, storage and seats four. The adjacent pantry includes a built-in glass-paned hutch and modern open shelving. Hardwood floors here and throughout the house unify the rooms on this level with a sleek, modern look. Also on this level is a powder room, as well as mudroom that offers access into the attached four-car garage.

The second floor of the house footprint is dedicated to three ensuite bedrooms, including the nearly 300-square-foot primary suite, with a large walk-in closet and its own balcony overlooking the back yard. The second largest bedroom (225 square feet) also has a front-facing balcony and smaller walk-in closet. Separate from the main house but connected by a sliding barn door, the wing over the garage offers flexible options as either a two-bedroom guest suite with its own kitchen and 418-square-foot living room or a “mother-in-law” apartment. Each bedroom is nearly 400 square feet and shares a bathroom; the living room has built-in storage and work stations.

The lower level of the house includes the laundry room and a 60-square-foot wine cellar with custom racks. The full, walk out basement leads to a gravel patio. The open unfinished space is nearly 500 square feet, large enough and flexible to be converted into a media/rec room and/or gym.

Set amid a rolling back yard, the 20 x 40 saltwater gunite pool is attractively decked with ample space for lounge chairs, and has a separate 9-foot hot tub. Tall leafy trees ring the yard and evergreens provide privacy. The property includes 354 feet of waterfront on Hashamomuck Pond, leading out to the Peconic Bay. A separate 1,850-square-foot horse barn includes an office and stalls, which Parker says “has so many possibilities,” such as conversion into a studio or other space. Or even, say, a horse farm (!) as the grazing pastures and riding ring were left intact.

Colony Road is a short road just off Albertson Lane and ending on Bayview Avenue, which leads to Hashmomuck Pond. “It’s an incredible and bucolic street but you’re near all the amenities, the marinas and the fish market,” Parker says. Town Beach is just over a mile away, Pipes Coves is two miles, and nearby landmarks include the Horton Point Lighthouse Nautical MuseumWhale Rock and Arshamomaque nature preserve.

The home at 215 Colony Road lists for $4,500,000 and the details can be seen here
