Summer is here. In anticipation of spending the next three months sipping wine at the vineyards, hanging out by the water or grabbing dinner at one of the many unique restaurants across the North Fork, we’ve highlighted three newly opened clothing boutiques that will keep you looking stylish all summer long.

Salty Threads

Located in Southold across the hall from her hair studio, Main Roots Salon, Kerry Conrardy opened a clothing boutique, Salty Threads, this past April. She wanted to give her clients the opportunity to browse affordable yet still fashionable brands as they wait for their appointments or before they check out.

“I am going for a surf shop, very coastal kind of vibe,” said Conrardy. “I want to provide people – both my clients as well as those who just stop in to browse – affordable statement pieces they can wear while on vacation or just for a night out.”

But the boutique isn’t just for those who are updating their mane. Shoppers can find a wide selection of dresses, skirts and sweaters that range from casual everyday wear to more formal. Conrarady also sells a collection of jewelry, locally made soaps and sunscreens, coasters and cutting boards.

Salty Threads Boutique is located at 53155 Main Rd. in Southold and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check out its styles on Instagram

J. McLaughlin

Although a national brand with over 150 stores nationwide, J. McLaughlin fits right in with the casual and relaxed styles synonymous with North Fork. The brand was founded by brothers J. and Kevin McLaughlin in the late 70s. There are two stores in the Hamptons, however, this is the first store on the North Fork.

“We are so excited to have a store on the North Fork,” said general manager Brita Babashak. “I am a local and we have all locals working in the store.”

The brand sells relaxed and comfortable clothing for women without sacrificing style – perfect for spending the day at a vineyard or dining at one of the many upscale restaurants on the North Fork.

While J. McLaughlin opened their doors on May 10, the company is planning to host a grand opening on Thursday, June 15 featuring many other Southold businesses. The store is open Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shop its styles at 54100 Main Rd. in Southold or check out their entire catalog on their website

Saltwater Long Island

This father-son-owned brand began in 2017 in Massepequa. Joe DeMarco and his father Buddy spent their life on the water – fishing, going to the beach and dining on the docks throughout Long Island – and wanted to capture that lifestyle in a clothing brand.

“We want to be the brand you wear from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep,” said Joe. “Our fabric is 100% Peruvian cotton. All of our clothing is super soft and you love the feeling of it. That’s our motto: ‘Love the feeling.’”

The Greenport store is their third location – their first shop opened in Huntington’s Walt Whitman Shops in 2020. In 2021, Saltwater LI also opened its Westhampton Beach location. Each store has a collection of outdoor and indoor wear such as t-shirts, hoodies, joggers and boat shorts.

“We are so lucky to have such an amazing customer base and staff,” said Joe. “It’s a very close-knit community of people. We are a family and we’re excited to see our family grow.”

You can check out Saltwater LI at 123 Main St. in Greenport every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and any time on their website
