Indulge in a new pairing

You’ve had oysters and wine now it’s time to let clams shine with this tasting event hosted by the Clamity Janes and North Fork Craft Wines. On Saturday, March 4 at 3:30 and 5 p.m., indulge in an intimate wine tasting and pairing featuring three curated wines paired with three bites by the Clamity Janes who will also be serving their signature Stone Cold Clam Dip. During the event, attendees will learn about the Peconic Bay estuary, its clams, and the wines presented in a 30–40-minute session. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased here for either session.

Learn the art of charcuterie

On Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m., head to Rose Hill Vineyards for an afternoon of wine and char­cuterie board-making from pro Lauren Lombardi of Lombardi’s Love Lane Market. Catch a flick at the Mattituck Cinemas

Head to the movies at Mattituck Cinemas this coming weekend for a chance to watch Matilda or The Big Lebowski on the big screen. Family-friendly, Matilda will be shown on Friday, 3/3 at 7 p.m., Saturday, 3/4 at 4 and 6 p.m., or on Sunday, 3/5 at 1 and 3 p.m. Or if The Dude is more your scene, watch The Big Lebowski on Friday, 3/3 at 9 p.m., Saturday, 3/4 at 1 and 8 p.m., or on Sunday, 3/5 at 5 p.m. Food and drink menu by Lucharitos will be served in the theater.

Get to know the gulls

In this lecture at übergeek Brewing Co. in Riverhead on Thursday, March 23, at 7 p.m., attendees will learn about the seagulls of Long Island including common gull species, where they nest, what they eat (aside from your chips at the beach) and where they frequent. Kim Lato, a doctoral student in the Thorne Lab at Stony Brook University will share her disser­tation work as a part of Geek Talk, a lecture series collabora­tion between Fish Guy Photos and übergeek Brewing Co. Rock out at The Suffolk

The Long Island Stage has partnered with The Suffolk to bring local Long Island tunes to the East End. Part of a new series, this particular evening will showcase rock music including performances by Kate Von Dorn, Playing Dead and Azwel. The show is set for Thursday, March 2 from 8 – 11:50 p.m. General admission tickets cost $25 and can be purchased here.

Tour a brewery

It’s not every day that you get a behind-the-scenes look at a brewery, but Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. is changing that by offering two chances this month to attend a guided tour of the brewhouse and learn about the process used to create Greenport Harbor beer. Sample unique beers with a keepsake tasting glass on Sunday, March 5, or Sunday, March 12, at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $20 per person and the tour lasts 40 minutes. Watch a concert that honors women at the Jamesport Meeting House

On Saturday, March 18 from 6 – 8 p.m., East End Arts and Peconic Ballet Theater will present PerformHER. The evening will consist of talented musicians and dancers performing collaborative solos to honor women in celebration of Women’s History Month. Tickets are on sale for $20 each and all proceeds support the East End Arts Music Scholarship Foundation and the Peconic Ballet Theater Foundation.

Celebrate National Quilting Day with the Sound Avenue Stitchers

Whether you’ve been stitching and quilting for ages or are just getting started, join the locals at Hallockville Museum Farm on Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a day of community, needlework and fun. On Wednesday, March 15 from 2 – 4:30 p.m., the Hampton Theatre Company will present an afternoon of Love Letters – letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people. The show promises to portray both a touching and funny story of the two characters’ lives. Held at the Peconic Landing Community Center tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased here.
