Apart from the fir tree, is there any plant more symbolic of the holiday season than poinsettias?

From bright red to pink and white varieties, the plants add a festive pop of color to your home for the holidays.

Native to Mexico, legend tells of a girl who could only give weeds as an offering on Christmas Eve. When she brought them into a church, they blossomed into the vibrant plants, also known as Flores de Noche Buena.

In Peconic, more than 90,000 poinsettia cuttings begin their journey at CJ Van Bourgondien greenhouses before Mother’s Day and are distributed all across Long Island during the busy holiday season.
