The summertime is when the North Fork really comes alive. Flowers bloom. Fruits and vegetables lushly fill up every field. Farm stands are full of all kinds of rotating produce. And the beaches have the best sunsets.

Some local Northforkers just have a knack for capturing that beauty.

Below are some of the best summer shots of the area from recent weeks. Be sure to give these folks a follow — and use #northforker on Instagram and follow us @the_northforker to be included in future coverage.

Sunset silhouette at Orient Point

This orange watercolor of a photo from Patrice Conklin is of the recently formed North Fork Jeep Club. This particular day they met up for a beach clean up.

Blooming hydrangeas in Greenport

Summer means all the flowers come to life, just like in this photo by Alexandra Lilly of @skinnygirlfatfood taken in the village of Greenport.

A crisp glass of white from Sherwood House Vineyards

With freshly cut light blue and purple hydrangeas and a crystal clear glass of white wine, is there anything more North Fork-y than this photo from Sherwood House Vineyards?

Zucchini blossoms from Noah’s

We are in prime zucchini blossom season and Noah’s is taking full advantage with these fried and stuffed little babies. Photo by Rachel Herbst.

Some almost ripe blueberries

June brings the last of the ruby red strawberries, but ushers in the season of deep blue blueberries. This photo from Linda Burke of @bythegardengate reminds us of that.

The chickens at 1760 Homestead Farm

These curious little creatures roaming around outside are a sure sign of summer. @chefhooverlondono certainly knows that.

Ruby in the lavender fields

At the Calverton location of Lavender by the Bay, Ruby, a Jindo-Spitz mix, of @rubyinbrooklyn, enjoys the sweet aromas of the purple blooms while managing not to eat any bees!

A moonrise of strawberry shades

Sure, the sunsets are great. But to capture a moonrise is a whole other feat — that’s exactly what Quynh Dang of @truenorthfork did. This bright yellow moon over Greenport caters in the shades of pink and red that eventually bring the night.

Strawberries, cukes, asparagus and cherries

A colorful box of produce taken home from the Wickham’s Fruit Farm stand in Cutchogue. @mcleigh certainly made out well.

The season for chickens

These two little farm fowls come from Luces Landing, where they offer backyard chicken care.

A cider slushy to cool you down

This blackberry mango hard cider slushy from @woodsideorchards is the perfect antidote to the summer heat.

A rainbow of flowers

These calendula, yarrow and lavender flowers from @herrickslanefarm will bring summer into your home.

A wave at Breakwater Beach

This dark and moody photo from local photographer @garrettxmccabe shows that even on the gloomier days, the North Fork is beautiful.
