The old Riverhead firehouse is now serving up more than just beer.

Montauk Distilling Co. recently opened in a 3,000-square-foot-space next to North Fork Brewing Company, making the converted firehouse even more of a go-to destination for craft beverage lovers.

Owner Leucio Iacobelli acquired his half of the building back in 2019 and it’s finally ready for you to stop in. Northforker photographer David Benthal checked it out last week. Click on the gallery to the left to see more of his photos.

The space is divided into two parts, the tasting room in the front with a large bar, TVs and tables that lead to a garage door with outdoor seating — and the distillery with all the products — gin, bourbon, whiskey and brandy — made in house from local ingredients.

They’re currently offering $14 tasting flights that include four samples from their gin, vodka and three styles of rum. They also have cocktails on the menu, as well as wine and brews from other area producers.

Previously, Montauk Distilling Co.’s products were made in a facility in Westfield, New York since 2013, but now with a complete setup in the back, all the production has moved to the Riverhead location.

Montauk Distilling Co. is already available for curbside pickup from Wednesday to Saturday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and in restaurants and liquor stores on Long Island and New York City.

Montauk Distilling Co. is located at 24 E. 2nd St. in Riverhead. It’s currently open from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday-Monday.
