The Lucky Bee, the Manhattan-based restaurant which hosted a popular pan-Asian cuisine pop-up restaurant in Greenport last fall, will NOT open a permanent spot in the village this year as previously reported.
But the Bee will still serve its dishes in Greenport this summer.
The restaurant was expected to open at 314 Main Street by Memorial Day, but the space will not be ready in time, co-owner Rupert Noffs announced in an email blast Monday afternoon.
Instead, The Lucky Bee will host pop-up dinners at the recently renovated Bruce and Son restaurant, located just a few storefronts down at 208 Main Street.
“We had to come up with a quick solution because Chef Matty and I still wanted to be out in Greenport this season as we’ve had so much amazing feedback about being there last year ” said Noffs, who owns the restaurant with his partner Matty Bennett. “And Bruce & Son is such a fabulous spot. Right in the center of the action on Main Street.”

Expect popular dishes like Bennett’s pork and sesame dumplings, Szechuan salt and pepper chicken wings, green curry of market vegetables, papaya salad, steamed local fish and coconut poached chicken.
Confirmed dates for the pop-up dinners include Friday, May 26, Sunday, May 28, Saturday, June 3, Friday, June 9, Friday, June 16, Friday, June 30, Saturday, July 1 and Monday, July 3. Expect additional Fridays and Sundays in August.
The dinners can seat about 50 people. Some evenings will feature meals paired with wines from local vineyards.
The couple hosted a pop-up version of their Broome Street restaurant — where the pink and neon décor was described by the New Yorker as “the spirited progeny of Nicki Minaj and Grace Jones” — at The Gallery Hotel last fall.
The Lucky Bee’s flagship Broome Street location will remain open.
