An army of Santas will descend on the North Fork for downtown Riverhead’s very own version of the popular pub crawl SantaCon this December.
For those unfamiliar, SantaCon is a holiday themed pub crawl where participants dress up as Santa Claus, moving from one bar to the next. While the event is traditionally held in larger cities such as San Francisco, New York and London, smaller towns are embracing the concept. And unlike those larger SantaCon’s participants in Riverhead are not required to wear a full Santa suit — a hat or other festive garb will suffice.
The first-ever Riverhead SantaCon, set for Saturday, Dec. 6, is a tour of nine downtown bars and restaurants — Crooked Ladder Brewery, Cliff’s Rendezvous, The Suffolk Theater, Vines & Hops, Tweeds Restaurant & Buffalo Bar, Joe’s Garage and Grill, Digger’s Irish Pub and Restaurant, Hotel Indigo East End and Dark Horse Restaurant. Each will offer its own special promotions and activities.
The day will start at 3 p.m. and go until midnight. You can pay $10 (cash only) for bracelets available at all stops, or purchase online by clicking here.
All proceeds from Riverhead SantaCon will benefit the Brendan House Project, a long-term care facility for patients with traumatic brain injuries.
