The painting was created by John Aicher Jr. last summer and depicts the waters of Southold’s Hog Neck Bay. It was born of emotions for his sister Annie, his sister-in-law Susan, and his cousin Mary, all of them battling breast cancer. (Courtesy photo)

Enjoy an afternoon of art, North Fork wine and homemade hors d’oeuvres all while helping fund the fight against breast cancer this weekend at Mattebella Vineyards

The Southold winery is hosting a benefit to support The Pink Sailboat Fund on Saturday, June 22. The non-profit was formed to support breast cancer research through art.

All of the proceeds collected by the Pink Sailboat Fund go to research conducted by breast cancer surgeon Dr. George Plitas at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His research involves exploring ways the immune system can be used to fight breast cancer.

The price of a $15 donation to the fund will include a glass of Mattebella wine,  homemade hors d’oeuvres and a chance to meet both Dr. Plitas and the people behind the Pink Sailboat Fund.

There will also be a silent auction of artwork by John Aicher Jr., Ron Leach and other Long Island artists and artisans.

The event starts at 1 p.m. at Mattebella Vineyards, located at 46005 Route 25, Southold.
