The North Fork will be on full display from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today, Sept. 9, as “New York Farm Day” is observed in Washington, D.C. The event showcases a variety of farm products from all over the state to Washington’s biggest powerbrokers.
“New York Farm Day” has become one of the most popular annual events on Capitol Hill since its inception in 2002, when it was hosted by then-Sen. Hillary Clinton. The day is meant to remind Congress, the administration and other Washington legislators how important agriculture is to New York State.
Hosted by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the Senator Kennedy Caucus Room, as many as 500 people have attended in the past. Tonight’s attendees will include other senators, the New York Congressional delegation from the House of Representatives, legislative chiefs of staff and members of the Washington media. (more…)

Alexandra and Joe Macari were cruising into the Midtown Tunnel on Wednesday when they dropped a call from the staff back home at Macari Vineyards & Winery.
Thinking winery matters could wait, Alexandra took a while to call back.
When she finally picked up the phone, she realized they were calling with big news: the family-owned vineyard had won “Winery of the Year” in the annual New York Wine & Food Classic in upstate Watkins Glen. (more…)
