Gene Casey and the Lone Sharks drew a huge crowd to Greenport’s Mitchell Park Monday night, wrapping up another successful season of Dances in the Park.
Hundreds of people relaxed on the lawn and watched as many took to the stage, dancing to the wildly popular band.
The free concerts are held on Monday nights through the summer.

Hours after his Tuesday night show in Bay Shore wrapped up, Gene Casey pulled into his driveway at his one-acre Southold property, weary from the road.
He’d driven for more than an hour after the latest performance of his ubiquitous band, Gene Casey & the Lone Sharks. Now, after a quick run to the store for a bottle of white wine, he was ready for home.
Gene Casey and The Lone Sharks, Bakithi Kumalo and Mambo Loco all graced the stage — even teaming up for an East End all-star encore, which included a cover of Santana’s “Oye Como Va.”
Friday night’s lineup for the Live on the Vine Long Island Winterfest kickoff event brought a top-notch collection of local musical talent to a jam-packed Suffolk Theater. (more…)
