Take a video tour of the Horton Point Lighthouse Museum: Historic Places

Horton Point Lighthouse in Southold was commissioned by George Washington and constructed in 1857.

Since a renovation project in 1990, it has been home to a museum, maintained by the Southold Historical Society.

Learn about the history of the property with this video, which was made possible by Heidtmann & Sons, Inc. Builders.

Our monthly series continues in October with a trip to the Suffolk County Historical Society building in Riverhead.

  • Nice little video; great job by the Southold Historical Society caring for the lighthouse. The lighthouse was not commissioned by George Washington, who was long dead by the time this lighthouse went into service in 1857.
