First and South is kicking off its first official Monday night pig roast of the season on June 18. The event continues through Labor Day.
There is a notable addition to the summertime tradition this year: the pig will be cooked outside on a new roaster.
“The last two years, the pig was roasted out of sight from the public and portioned out in the kitchen,” said First and South spokesperson Estefany Molina. “With our new roaster, theoretically, we’ll be able to roast the pig right on our patio in a presentable fashion and portion out the plates right there, resembling more of a convivial barbecue affair rather than just a sit-down dining experience.”
The $40 ticket price includes the specialty pig roast along with a beer. Different Long Island breweries will serve pints each week. The regular menu and a raw bar will also be served.
The Monday night events go from 5 to 10 p.m. First come, first serve.
Two smaller-scale pig roasts are planned for Monday, June 4 and June 11 if you want to get a jump on this North Fork favorite.
First and South is located at 100 South Street in Greenport.
