Wölffer Estate Vineyards in Sagaponack became the latest East End winery to sell out of rosé this weekend, another sign of the pink wine’s rising star.

“Over the weekend we ran out of all of our rosé,” said Wölffer spokeswoman Donell Brown. “It felt like this year it was a craze. Like a phenomenon.”

Wolffer is now completely out of its Noblesse Oblige Sparkling Rosé, Grandioso Rosé (a barrel-aged rosé), Summer in a Bottle and its Wölffer Rosé. Brown said Wölffer winemaker Roman Roth made more rosé than ever before — 48 percent more of the Wölffer Rosé over the previous year alone — and the winery still ran out by Labor Day, when the supply is typically depleted.

It was also they first year it offered Summer in a Bottle, which Wölffer sold out of within three and a half weeks, Brown said.

“Personally, I’ve never seen anything like it,” she said. “We sold 300 bottles before anyone had even tasted it.”

But hard cider drinkers take solace. The vineyard does still have its Wölffer No. 139 Dry Rosé Cider, which Roth describes as “a subtle blush” with “fresh-pick apples and lilac” on the nose.

The New York Post reported last Wednesday that the Hamptons experienced a rosé crisis for Labor Day weekend and Vogue magazine declared rosé the “drink of summer” in May.

Last week we reported that Croteaux Vineyards ran out of the pink drink nearly two months earlier than usual and that Lieb Cellars sold more rosé by the keg than chardonnay or merlot.
