In what comes as no surprise to us at northforker and to anyone who has ever eaten at Petulant Wino in Aquebouge, the Main Road eatery recently earned an excellent rating from a New York Times food critic.
The Times’ Joann Starkey raved about the slow-roasted and cider-glazed pork belly with pickled rhubarb and rainbow chard and the grilled oysters topped with a spicy Japanese mayonnaise at Tom Schaudel’s newest restaurant.
“From the sturdy bread served with herbed, fruity olive oil and roasted red pepper butter to the marvelous homemade desserts, a meal at Petulant Wino is special — and affordable,” she said.
The Times scores restaurants by giving them either an excellent, very good, good, fair or poor rating.
Starkey also remarks on the portion size of the menu’s small plates, which she claims are substantial enough to be served as entrees.
