Brothers Emil and Kyle Breitenbach are reviving their Riverhead family’s generations-old farming legacy with the opening of their new Main Road farm stand in Aquebogue.

Breitenbach Farms lifted the garage-style doors of its modest red farm stand across the street from Verderber’s Nursery & Garden Center for a soft opening today, Friday, May 10. The location is an iconic one, operating as a farm stand for 75 years, originally as Skelly’s Farm Stand and for the last 20 years as Wells Homestead. (more…)

Every morning on my way into work, I pass Wells Homestead in Aquebogue.

The red farm stand on Main Road is eye-catching — even more so lately now that it’s filled with beautiful spring flowers.

Several weeks ago, it caught my eye again when I noticed a sign advertising sorrel. (more…)

Ring the dinner bell and break out the salad spinner, because the heirloom tomatoes have arrived. Between the corn and Jersey tomatoes during mid-summer, these special varieties come into season.
