Owners, baker Carissa Waechter and business partner Lori Chemla, have amassed quite a following since opening on Newton Lane almost two years ago. They’ve grown so much the duo is opening a second, larger location elsewhere in town this summer.

Not very much catches the eye when driving down East Second Street in Mineola, an industrial neighborhood lined with antiquated buildings and little else.

But if you’re traveling slow enough, you just might spot the quaint 1947 railroad car that is home to Biscuits & Barbeque, a Southern restaurant specializing in Cajun-style cooking and barbecue.

If you do take notice, your stomach is will thank your eyeballs for finding this gem of a place.

A two-story, 3,000-square-foot tasting room with intricate stonework reminiscent of an Italian villa helps transport patrons to the old world wine region, which inspired Del Vino’s ambience and winemaking process. Owners Fred and Lisa Giachetti drew upon their Italian heritage for the winery long before the first rows of vines were planted.
