For Lucharito’s, ocho will be the new cinco.

For non-Spanish-speakers, that means that “eight will be the new five.” To further elaborate, that means that instead of re-opening on Cinco de Mayo, the Greenport “Baja-style” eatery which has been closed for renovations since mid-March will in fact be opening a few days later than expected — on May 8.

So instead of a Cinco de Mayo party, Lucharito’s will celebrate on Ocho de Mayo.
