Is there a sweeter sign that summer is coming than the return of North Fork strawberries?
Juicy, ripe and red; these berries typically begin making an appearance on local farm stands starting in late May or early June, but you won’t have to wait quite that long if you visit Catapano Farms in Southold.

Greenport Farmers’ Market will remain inside this spring and summer.
The market, which moved indoors last fall, allowing it to operate during the winter for the first time, is staying put, according to its president, Dorothy Catapano, who also owns Catapano Farms in Southold.
“It was popular throughout the winter,” she said. “We’re really excited because it is in the heart of the village and people can access it easily.”(more…)
