The True Story of the Culper Spy Ring Revealed at Hallockville

History enthusiasts are invited to uncover the real story behind one of the most fascinating intelligence operations of the American Revolution at a special presentation on Sunday, May 3 from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at the Naugles Barn at Hallockville Museum Farm (6038 Sound Avenue, Riverhead).

Former Newsday reporter and author Bill Bleyer will present “The True Story of the Culper Spy Ring,” based on his book George Washington’s Long Island Spy Ring: A History and Tour Guide. The talk will explore the real-life espionage network that operated across Long Island to support George Washington and the Continental Army.

Long a subject of intrigue and popularized by the television series Turn, the Culper Spy Ring has inspired countless legends, including stories about Anna Strong’s famous clothesline signals. Bleyer’s engaging PowerPoint presentation separates fact from fiction, revealing how the network truly operated and the critical role it played in securing victory for the Patriots.

This event is free and open to the public, though registration is requested.
