The Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society is hosting a lecture entitled “THE WORLD RENOWNED
MATTITUCK AIRPORT,” August 14, 2022- 2:00 pm.
From modest beginnings at the conclusion of World War II, Mattituck Aviation Corporation developed a world-wide reputation in the field of aviation, Hear former long-time employees relate stories of its history and operations. The quality of its rebuilt aircraft engines and components drew attention from experts in the field throughout the world and made Mattituck Airport the destination of their visits. Changes are chronicled in an exclusive series of never publicly before seen photographs of planes, workshops, buildings, personnel and even some mishaps. You’ll even hear an answer to the question, “Was a version of the snowmobile invented in Mattituck?”
