About

Imagine a world without freezers, fridges, and grocery stores. This was the reality for the Hallocks before electricity was brought to the homestead in the mid 1900s.  To ensure food throughout the winter farmers used many techniques to preserve their summer harvests. Join us in learning one of these food preserving techniques… making and canning jam.

Throughout this hands on workshop Gabi Spielmann will take you through the process of canning, from berry to shelf stable jam. You will leave with your very own jar of berry jam and the knowledge to continue to make preserves in your home kitchen.

When: November 1st 1pm to 4pm

Where: Hallockville Museum Farm’s Hudson-Sydlowski House

Class fee: $25 Members, $30 Non- Members
